Moveable student complex in Amsterdam

Modular design
Students have a new flexible living space on the Zuiderzeeweg in Amsterdam. The definite location still has to be chosen. The project, designed by Fact Architects, consists of six five-story apartment buildings. It is an example of modular design in which individual components can be installed and replaced. This plan offers a solution the housing shortage among students. In 2004 the city of Utrecht placed modular container houses at the Uithof. These disappeared again in 2009. The new complex has a black wooden exterior. The rugged exterior is balanced by hills of grass, baskets filled with roses and climbing- plants. A total of 335 student rooms have been created with an surface of 31 square meters.
